Clay Roberts began his first season as the head coach of the Florida Polytechnic University Men’s Soccer program in 2026. He is widely recognized for building one of the premier NAIA college soccer programs in the South and establishing a respected reputation throughout collegiate and professional soccer.
Prior to joining Florida Poly, Roberts served as head coach at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, from 2014-2025. There, he became the winningest coach in program history with 121 victories.
During his tenure, he guided the team to four NAIA National Championship Tournament appearances and captured three Sun Conference Tournament Championships. His elite team earned him two Sun Conference Coach of the Year recognitions.
In addition to his collegiate success, Roberts spent seven seasons as head coach of the Florida Tropics SC, where he led the team to an Eastern Conference Championship and was named Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Coach of the Year.
He also served as a consultant with the Empire Strykers during the 2024 MASL season.
As a player at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Roberts was a three-time All-SSC selection and received two NCAA All-South Region honors.
He went on to play professionally, winning league championships with the Charlotte Eagles and Philadelphia KiXX, including the 2005 USL Championship with the Eagles and 2007 MISL Championship with the KiXX.
Known as a culture-driven program builder and dynamic tactician, Roberts’ coaching philosophy is built around player development, competitive excellence, leadership and servant-minded mentorship.
