LAKE WALES, Fla. — Florida Polytechnic University women's soccer continued its 2026 campaign Wednesday evening, falling 10-0 to Warner University in a road matchup in Lake Wales.
The Phoenix faced pressure early from the Warner attack but received several strong stops from goalkeeper Ariela Grady to keep the match scoreless through the opening 15 minutes. Grady turned away attempts from Clarissa Chew, Miya Sikhakhane, Sabrina Bouchachia, Astrid Beckemeier and Jaclyn Malagies during the opening stretch before Warner eventually broke through. The Royals scored their first goal in the 16th minute when Chew converted off an assist from Elisabet Rosario.
Warner quickly added to its advantage, with Astrid Beckemeier scoring at 15:41 and again at 18:05 to make it 3-0. Hailey Westphal and Shelby Cape followed with goals less than a minute apart in the 23rd minute before Mackenzie Hart struck twice later in the half. Hart's goals in the 32nd and 38th minutes sent the Royals into halftime holding a 7-0 advantage. Despite the score, Grady remained active in goal and finished the opening half with 10 saves.
Florida Poly continued to battle in the second half while looking to slow Warner's attack. Jaclyn Malagies scored just over four minutes after the restart before Chew added her second goal of the night at 53:56. Malagies completed the scoring in the 63rd minute with her second goal, giving Warner a 10-0 advantage. The Phoenix defense and Grady then kept the Royals off the scoreboard for the final 27-plus minutes of the contest.
The Phoenix generated their best offensive opportunity late in the second half. Despina Sinapidi put Florida Poly's first shot of the match on target in the 79th minute, forcing Warner goalkeeper Haley Van Houweling to make the save. Sinapidi finished as the Phoenix's lone player with a shot and shot on goal during the match.
Grady was one of the busiest players on the field throughout the night, playing all 90 minutes and recording 18 saves on 28 shots on goal. She collected 10 saves in the opening half and another eight after halftime. Florida Poly finished with one shot and one shot on goal, while Warner recorded 46 total shots, including 28 on frame.
